Drawings: 2014

After a gap of 4 years, I started drawing again and yet again the main spur was signing up to a class in this case, illustrating children’s books because at that time, in person illustrating classes were extremely limited in availability.

The structure of the class included a lot of theory around what it takes to be an illustrator for children’s books and then some drawing with some homework afterwards.

Comment: We had to draw different expressions which is a good exercise in finding what illustrates somebody being happy, sad etc.

Comment: This is just me doodling during the theory bit of the class.

Date: 22/9/14

Comment: Again doodling during the theory bit but I think the one on the left is meant to be the Queen from Alice in Wonderland, which was being used as inspiration for the course.

Date: 22/9/14

Comment: As part of the drawing exercise, we had to draw a scene from Alice, when she gets bigger than the house.

Date: September 2014

Comment: This was meant to be homework where we had to illustrate an idea, I cant remember what but this is meant to be a dog running across a beach causing chaos. I didnt get very far with it.

Date: October 2014

Comment: This was homework I think to create characters for a story. I created a sheep family.

Date: October 2014

Comment: Not homework, but just me doing a bit extra but trying colouring pencils that I bought on the recommendation from somebody in the class. I still have them and have never used them since.

Comment: This was homework where we had to draw our own visualisation of Cinderella. I thought I would move away from the stereotype and make her a bit larger.

Date: October 2014

Comment: Again me trying to do a bit extra and trying to learn human proportions … again.

Date: October 2014

Comment: A but extra and just drawing objects.

Comment: Doodling again.
